Good Samaritan

Good Samaritan

When last did you do a good act to someone who did not expect it or even someone you did not know? I am sure you can relate many instances where you did.

I was reading about a very, very honest man who ended up with a huge reward. I would love to share this "feel good" incident with you.

A man was driving home from work when he spotted a black bag in the middle of the road. When he opened it, he saw dozens of $100 and $20 bills and immediately called police. It totaled $15 000. They took his details and he thought that was the end of the matter.

Can you believe that no-one could prove that they were the legal owners of the lost money so a judge ordered the money returned to the man. Now that is justice for you. Honesty pays after all.

I would love to hear some of your experiences or experiences you have read or even heard of.

Happy Stitching
Annemarie

Making Jam

I have wonderful memories of the family making jam when the peach season was at its height. We had many Yellow Cling Peach trees in our garden and they would yield buckets full of delicious  peaches. And this is where my trip down memory lane begins.

On a specific day the family would pick these bucket fulls of peaches and take them to the veranda. There we sorted the peaches for jam or to be laid into Mason jars. The peaches for jam had to be peeled and sliced. Then it was off to the pots to boil for hours.

My Gratitude Journal

Have you ever heard or even used some of these sayings? Some of them are actually quite humorous.
  • Life is tough!
  • Getting old is not for sissies!
  • Just wait until you are in my shoes, then we talk again!

We all face hard times at one stage or another in our lives. And it is very difficult to be positive when you are negative. So why not create a "Gratitude Journal" to help you change negativity into a positive attitude when you need it most? A gratitude journal is a diary of things for which one is grateful. Gratitude journals are used by individuals who wish to focus their attention on the positive things in their lives.

Benefits of Visiting Senior Loved Ones
Benefits of Visiting Senior Loved Ones

Sybrand and I recently took a road trip to visit our parents. We stay about 12 hours drive from Sybrand's folks and about 12 hours drive from my folks. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing them all again. It is true that family members can stay in contact via email, social media but if possible, having a cup of coffee together, having a meal together and sharing good old memories are simply the best way to stay in contact. Ask us, we experienced it.

We must been having a good time when most of our sentences started with "... and do you also remember ..." Good old memory lane. We experienced first hand the wonderful benefits of visiting our parents.
