Cute Cupcake Applique Tutorial is the ideal Beginners project to start your journey in Applique. So if you have never done it before, this is your chance.
A. Start by hooping your FABRIC or GARMENT. Use the correct STABILIZER for the fabric. In this Tutorial we used WHITE FELT with 1 x layer of TEAR AWAY STABILIZER For the CUPCAKE DESIGN we used 3 different COLORS of felt
COLOR STOP 1 = Stitch the 1st COLOR STOP = a Running Stitch
Place the FABRIC to cover the OUTLINE. COLOR STOP 2 = The Fabric will be secured by the next running stitch Once the fabric is secured – remove the hoop and place on a flat surface.
Cut away the excess fabric. Place hoop back and stitch COLOR STOP 3
COLOR STOP 3 = A Satin Outline will cover the edge
COLOR STOP 4 = Stitch the 4th COLOR STOP = a Running Stitch
COLOR STOP 5 = The Fabric will be secured by the next running stitch Once the fabric is secured – remove the hoop and place on a flat surface.
Cut away the excess fabric.
Place hoop back and stitch COLOR STOP 6 COLOR STOP 6 = A Satin Outline will cover the edge
COLOR STOP 7 = Stitch the 7th COLOR STOP = a Running Stitch
COLOR STOP 8 = The Fabric will be secured by the next running stitch Once the fabric is secured – remove the hoop and place on a flat surface. Cut away the excess fabric.
Place hoop back and stitch COLOR STOP 9
COLOR STOP 9 = A Satin Outline will cover the edge. Stitch COLOR STOP 10 through 13 to complete the Design.
Cut away the jump stitches.

Dear Ruth, thank you so much for your comment. No need to take the design out of the hoop:-)
The hoop can be detached from the machine to make it a bit easier to cut away the fabric, but the hooped fabric stays in the hoop until the design is completely stitched. Happy stitching! Annemarie
