Customer project: Baby Giraffe Reading Pillow by Maria from Utah USA

My friend Maria sent us these endearing photos of the delightful "Baby Giraffe Reading Pillow" she made for her granddaughter.

Bravo Maria, she is one lucky little lady!! And you showed us that, even on a tight budget, a person can make a stunning project. Thank you so much for your inspiring account of how you turned a possible disaster into a roaring success. Your friend, Annemarie

"Since my budget is pretty tight I was able to use what I had in hand. Even making the pillow that goes inside the cover. I cannot tell you how hard it was for me not run out and purchase supplies because I was over thinking in what I wanted to use for material as well as what colors. After putting together this reading pillow, I apparently accidentally cut the the lower flap just a tad bit too short.
So, my intentions was to either put a zipper in, buttons, Velcro, or snaps. Once again I went through what I had. I was all set to put the snaps on when I noticed the large ric rac on birthday gift that I had received. I just couldn't resist and had to use it. I went back to the drawing board and decided to sew the ric rac on and then made a yoyo flower out of scraps and hand sewed a snap underneath. The reason for the flower was for the sole purpose of hiding the seam of the two separate pieces of the ric rac.
I had so much fun putting this reading pillow together for my granddaughter for her birthday. Thank you so much for the cute giraffe! Maria."
